The ten artists listed above examine the fragile beauty of the northern forest that is in transition due to the effects of climate change and other factors.
The consultants for this project are Lee Frelich, Ph.D., Forest Ecologist at the University of Minnesota, David McLaughlin, Ph.D., Mycologist at the University of Minnesota, Gerald Niemi, Ph. D., Director of the Center for Water and the Environment at the Natural Resources Research Institute, a part of the University of Minnesota, Duluth and Jana Albers, DNR Forest Health Specialist.
The artwork for this project is in process. There will be additional artwork on birds, insects and trees that are expected to migrate into the Minnesota boreal forest as the climate warms.

Why an Art Exhibit on Boreal Forests?
There are many factors disturbing the ecology of our Boreal Forests in North America. As a result these forests are changing. Science-botanical artists of Minnesota have created artwork based on the trees and plants most affected by these disruptive factors.
